Bill Detail
An Act respecting National Immigration Month
This enactment provides for the development of a proposal for federal initiatives designed to ensure the financial stability of post-secondary institutions. It also amends the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act to exclude post-secondary educational institutions from the definitions of corporation and company under those Acts, respectively.
Bill S-215 proposes to officially designate the month of November as "National Immigration Month" across Canada. The bill highlights the significant contributions immigrants have made and continue to make to Canada's social, cultural, and economic development. It aims to recognize and celebrate these contributions, fostering a greater understanding among Canadians, especially younger generations, about the important role immigration has played in building the nation.
