Bill Detail
An Act to establish a national framework on heart failure
This enactment amends the Customs Tariff to prohibit the importation of goods manufactured in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.
Bill S-204 aims to create a national strategy to improve how heart failure is prevented, diagnosed, and treated in Canada. Heart failure is a serious and growing health issue, causing many hospitalizations and deaths each year. This bill recognizes that access to care and treatment is not equal across the country, leading to disparities in outcomes.
The proposed framework will focus on early detection, better patient and caregiver support, integrated care using technology, and addressing care gaps, especially in rural or underserved areas. It also includes building better health data infrastructure, like a national registry, to track outcomes and plan resources effectively. The Minister of Health will lead this effort, consulting with various groups including provincial governments, Indigenous communities, healthcare professionals, and patient advocates.
