Bill Detail
An Act to amend the Canada National Parks Act โ Became Law
This enactment amends the Canada National Parks Act to
allow a local government body to exercise powers in relation to land use planning and development in the town of Jasper as provided in an agreement applicable to that town; and
provide that certain regulations do not apply to the town of Jasper once a municipal by-law applicable to that town respecting land use planning and development comes into force.
Bill C-76 gives the local government in Jasper the power to make decisions about land use planning and development within the town. Previously, these decisions were largely controlled by federal regulations under the Canada National Parks Act. This change allows Jasper to create its own local by-laws for planning and development, similar to how other municipalities operate.
