Bill Detail
An Act to amend the Criminal Code (defence of person)
This enactment amends the Criminal Code to prohibit a person from making, distributing or advertising pornographic material for commercial purposes without having first ascertained that, at the time the material was made, each person whose image is depicted in the material was 18 years of age or older and gave their express consent to their image being depicted.
This bill, also known as the Stand on Guard Act, proposes changes to the Criminal Code concerning self-defence. Specifically, it aims to create legal presumptions that assist individuals defending themselves or others within their home. If someone unlawfully enters a dwelling-house where you are lawfully present, the law would presume that you acted reasonably, including using necessary lethal force, if you used force to defend yourself or others.
