Bill Detail
An Act to amend the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act (supply management) โ Became Law
This enactment amends the Criminal Code to create an offence of engaging in controlling or coercive conduct that has a significant impact on the person towards whom the conduct is directed, including a fear of violence, a decline in their physical or mental health and a substantial adverse effect on their day-to-day activities.
Bill C-202 amends the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act. It prevents the Minister of Foreign Affairs from agreeing to international trade commitments that could increase tariff rate quotas or decrease tariffs on imported dairy products, poultry, or eggs beyond those quotas. This change aims to protect Canada's supply management system for these specific agricultural goods from unfavorable international trade deals.
