An Act respecting the National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking
This enactment requires the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to maintain and update the National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking and address the harms caused by human trafficking. It also provides for review and reporting requirements in respect of the National Strategy.
Bill S-235, also known as the National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking Act, aims to establish a clear legal framework for the government's efforts to fight human trafficking in Canada. It requires the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to maintain and regularly update a national strategy. This strategy must include measures to support victims, increase prevention efforts through public awareness and addressing root causes, protect vulnerable groups, improve the justice system's response, and foster collaboration with various levels of government and stakeholders.
