Bill Detail
An Act respecting the development of a national renewable energy strategy
This enactment requires the Minister of Natural Resources, in consultation with the provincial government representatives responsible for energy matters, to develop and implement a national strategy to provide that, by December 31, 2030, 100% of electricity generated in Canada must be from renewable energy sources.
Bill C-214 proposes a national strategy to ensure that 100% of Canada's electricity is generated from renewable sources by December 31, 2030. The Minister of Natural Resources would be responsible for developing and implementing this strategy in consultation with provincial governments and Indigenous governing bodies.
The strategy would focus on increasing renewable energy projects, boosting investment in renewable technologies, promoting cooperation on public electric utilities, and creating jobs in the clean energy sector. It also includes measures for financial incentives for renewable energy projects and home/business retrofits, with reporting requirements to Parliament on the strategy's progress and effectiveness.
